Ho Chi Minh City severely fines people traveling on the street without wearing masks

On June 1, the Traffic Police Department (Traffic Police) of Roads and Railways, Ho Chi Minh City Police said that from today, the traffic police force will sanction traffic participants who violate the regulations on traffic control against the Covid-19 epidemic.

Accordingly, in the process of patrolling and controlling the city's traffic police force, handling violations against vehicle drivers participating in traffic who violate regulations on epidemic prevention and control in the field of health care such as: not wearing a mask will be fined from one to three million VND (based on point a, clause 1, Article 12 of Decree 117/2020/ND-CP of the Government); failing to comply with the measures to prevent and control infectious diseases at the request of competent agencies and organizations such as not keeping the distance between passengers, carrying more than the prescribed number of people on Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control of Ho Chi Minh City) will be fined from five to ten million VND (based on Clause 2, Article 14 of Decree 117/2020/ND-CP)...

When performing their duties, if there are signs of criminal violations or complicated developments, the patrol team will request the police of wards, communes and townships to assist in escorting or coercing the subjects to the nearest police headquarters to handle the case. 

The Road and Railway Traffic Police Department also called on the city people, in addition to complying with the provisions of the law in ensuring traffic order and safety, it is necessary to strictly follow the regulations of the health authorities, the City People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic for the safety and health of themselves and the community.
