Etienne Mahler (Vietnamese name is Minh) is a German international student at the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

As a guy born and raised in Germany, but after a trip to Vietnam in student exchange activities, Etienne Mahler had a passion and love for the country and people of Vietnam. Right after that, Etienne Mahler was determined to stay in Vietnam to study and has been for more than 7 years so far.

The special impression about this German student is his 700-page thesis and the arduous journey of making his graduation thesis.

At the beginning of the thesis, Etienne Mahler chose the topic "The difficulties of the Vietnamese Government in the prevention of Covid-19 epidemic", but the good thing of Vietnam is that it has controlled the disease very well with the cooperation of many people, the hearts of the people, the whole government. By that time, Etienne Mahler had done half of the thesis. But Etienne Mahler understands that the essence of research is to find something new, not to study the problem that already has results. Therefore, the entire process of Etienne Mahler's previous research had to be stopped.

Thanks to his hard work and high logical thinking ability, Etienne Mahler had a bold decision to change the research topic of the thesis with the topic: "Technical education at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities" - Hanoi National University (USSH-VNU): Current status, expectations and development orientation". The main objective of the study is to analyze and evaluate the development and status of digital education in teaching and learning at USSH, especially during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Complicated students have to study a lot online.

The special thing of the thesis is that it includes more than 125 pages of content and 600 pages of appendices in Vietnamese. This is one of the few graduate theses of foreign students with such serious and elaborate investment. With his intelligence and philosophical background from Germany along with high determination, Etienne Mahler did an excellent thesis that conquered all four teachers in the grading committee with four perfect 10 points.
