Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao received the Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur

The President of Sovico Group, CEO of Vietjet Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao is the first Vietnamese businesswoman to receive the Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur - the highest medal of France.

On the evening of April 14, Mr Nicolas Warnery, French Ambassador in Vietnam awarded the Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur - the highest medal of the French Republic to Mrs Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao. 

"This medal is a reward for the career and outstanding personality of Mrs Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao", Mr Nicolas Warnery said of the Vietnamese businesswoman and also emphasized that she is "a friend of France". 

To demonstrate, the French Ambassador reiterated the career history of Mrs Thao from when she was a student until she returned to Vietnam, laying the foundation for her business.

"Now Mrs Thao is an excellent businesswoman, often honoured on prestigious charts such as Forbes, Bloomberg", he said. 

According to him, Mrs Thao has participated in most fields, from finance, aviation and real estate, to international trade and achieved positive achievements. In particular, he emphasized aviation when Mrs Thao is the one who has realized the flight dream of most Vietnamese and international.

"When Vietjet Air was established, only 1% of Vietnamese were allowed to fly, now 30% of its customers are those allowed to fly for the first time," said the French ambassador. With the transportation of more than 100 million passengers, Vietjet has contributed to the commercial, economic and social development between Vietnam and the world. 

Aviation is also the bridge between Mrs Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and France. Ambassador Nicolas Warner said that the billionaire's activities "promote the aviation industry in general, and strongly enhance trade exchanges between Vietnam and France in particular".

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr Nicolas Warnery also pointed out that Mrs Thao helped the French people by sending a large number of medical masks. "Her actions have contributed to the development of the friendly relationship between the two countries", Nicolas Warnery emphasized.

Deputy of Foreign Minister To Anh Dung commented that Mrs Thao is a businesswoman who works hard every day "to bring Vietnamese people to the world and to draw the world closer to Vietnam". He evaluated that the event of awarding the Medal to Mrs Thao was an honour for Vietnamese businessmen and a highlight in the diplomatic, cultural and economic relations between the two countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao said she will continue to work hard and make more efforts to bring new values and dreams for the happiness of Vietnam and a better world. 

The Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur is the latest title that female billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao has received. Before that, she was honoured as the most influential figure in Asia in charity work by the prestigious Tatler magazine. She is also one of 100 Asian economic transformers assessed by Business Insider Australia magazine; Top 100 most powerful women in the world, Top Asia's most powerful women leaders, best businesswoman award in ASEAN region, CEO of the year 2019 in Asia-Pacific region voted by the world businessman community ... She was also included in the research and teaching topic of Harvard University - USA.
